Moonlight docs
Everything you need to set up and run Moonlight AI, Moonlight Color and Moonlight Console: getting the game's picture to the Moonlight PC, sending the input back, tuning the settings, and fixing problems.
A setup is two machines and two connections between them. Choose one way to carry the picture across and one way to send the input back, and follow its guide.
Picture goes across
- Capture card
The game’s HDMI signal goes into a capture card in the Moonlight PC. The lowest delay, from a PC or a console.
- PS5 Remote Play
A PS5 sends its picture over your home network. No capture card, and it carries the controller back too.
- NDI
The picture travels over your network, with no extra hardware. The easier of the two network methods.
- UDP
Also over the network. More control over bitrate and compression, and more to set up by hand.
- Moonlight Stream
Sunshine on the gaming PC streams its picture over your network. For two PCs, not consoles.
Input comes back
- Moonlink
Forwards mouse input to a USB device that the game PC sees as an ordinary mouse.
- Controller adapter
For PS5 and Xbox: your controller plugs into the adapter, and the adapter carries Moonlight’s stick output to the console.
- PS5 Remote Play
Your controller plugs into the Moonlight PC and reaches the PS5 over the same connection as the picture.
- Arduino (legacy)
Older builds on an Arduino Leonardo or Due.
