Tune aim for a controller
Set the game up first, then tell Moonlight how the game's stick responds.
A controller game turns stick movement into aim through its own sensitivity, deadzone and response curve. Moonlight cannot read those settings, so you set the game up first and then tell Moonlight how it responds.
#Set the game first
- Response curve: linear. If the game lets you choose, pick linear. We recommend it for every game.
- Deadzone. Turn the game's deadzone off if it allows that. Otherwise note how large it is.
- Stick sensitivity. Pick the sensitivity you want to play with, and keep it. Changing it later means tuning again.
#Then match Moonlight to it
These settings are in the Stick Sensitivity row on the Aim page, Moonlight Aim card (shown when Aim Engine is Moonlight Aim and the output device is Titan Two, Makcu Controller, Ferrum Controller or PS5 Remote Play). Flick uses the same values.
| Setting | Range | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| In-game stick sensitivity | 1 to 10, starts at 5.5 | Higher values make Moonlight's stick correction smaller; lower values make it bigger. It is not your game's number and does not change the game. |
| Deadzone compensation | No deadzone 0%, Small 5%, Large 10%, Very large 15%, or Custom | Use No deadzone when the game's deadzone is off. Otherwise pick the preset closest to the game's deadzone. |
| Exact compensation | 0 to 30% | The exact deadzone value, for Custom. |
Start with In-game stick sensitivity at 5.5:
- Aim swings past the target: raise it.
- Aim gets there slowly or stops short: lower it.
Change it a little at a time and test again in the same spot.
#Your own stick while aim is active
| Setting | Range | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Restricted Tracking X | 0 to 100%, starts at 79% | How much of your own horizontal right-stick movement is held back while aim is active. 0% keeps full manual control; 100% gives Moonlight full control. |
| Restricted Tracking Y | 0 to 100%, starts at 79% | The same for up and down. Lower it to keep your own pull-down against recoil. |
| Manual Override Delay | 25 to 2000 ms, starts at 500 ms; on by default | Hold the right stick deflected this long to take manual control. Aim resumes when the stick returns to neutral. |
#When recoil pushes aim up
If aim rides up when you shoot, for example from the chest to the head:
- lower Restricted Tracking Y so your own pull-down counts, or
- on the Recoil Control page, set Activation Mode to Recoil Boost and raise Recoil Boost. While aim is on a target, Moonlight pulls back down toward it that much harder. In this mode it adds no recoil pull-down of its own.
#Let the guided setup help
The Aim page has one Guided Setup button, on the Activation & Access card. It walks the whole page: Activation & Access, then Targeting & Position, then Response. Try a step, then say what you see, such as "arrives slowly" or "overshoots". It adjusts in small steps, and you can undo each one.
