Web control and support access
What web control does, what Moonlight support can do on your PC during a support session, who can see your Live view, and how to turn each part off.
Moonlight's web control links the app on your PC to your account on moonlight.zip. It is how your settings can be changed from the website, and how Moonlight support can help you set things up.
This page says what that gives access to, and how to turn it off.
#What web control does
- Your config profiles are stored on moonlight.zip, so they can be edited there.
- A change made on the website reaches the app on your PC within a second or two.
- Web control is on by default.
#What Moonlight support can do
When you ask for help, a member of Moonlight support can open your settings in a support session. During a support session they can:
- see and change all of your settings;
- switch and manage your config profiles;
- start or stop Moonlight;
- run setup tasks on your PC, such as refreshing the device lists.
Everything support does is logged. While support is connected, your dashboard on moonlight.zip shows a banner with their name.
#Who can see your Live view
Your Live view is the picture the Moonlight app is working on: your game screen.
Warning
Moonlight Admins are able to see your live view during support sessions.
- Moonlight Admins can open your Live view during a support session without asking you first.
- Other support staff can see it only if you share it. A share lasts 24 hours and you can stop it at any time.
- While anyone from Moonlight is watching, the banner on your dashboard names them.
- Every time staff open a Live view, it is logged.
Nobody can see your Live view while Allow live preview from the web panel is off on your PC. That includes Moonlight Admins.
#Lumen, the support assistant on Discord
Moonlight's Discord has an AI support assistant called Lumen. It helps in support threads and tickets, and answers questions in chat channels such as general.
- In a support ticket, it can read your settings the way support staff can. It does this only after you press the button that allows it in that ticket.
- In a chat channel it only keeps a message that asks a question or mentions it. Other chat is not kept.
- Conversations with Lumen are processed by AI providers (OpenAI or Anthropic) and kept for 180 days.
- Moonlight staff can review them.
